Frequently asked questions
Do you accept insurance?
The short answer is, “No.”
We accept checks, credit cards, and payments from FSA/HSA accounts.
The providers at Root Causes Medicine are not participating providers with any insurance carrier or governmental benefit plan such as medicare or medicaid. We can not accept payments from insurance companies, and we are unable to assist with insurance claims.
Root Causes Medicine will provide each client with a detailed receipt of services performed.
Are the providers at Root Causes primary care physicians?
Yes.
Root Causes offers primary care in a fee-for-service functional medicine model.
We are primarily consultants and coaches in Functional Medicine, and we will work closely with you to help you address the underlying causes of chronic health problems. Our Providers can confer with your primary care doctor if required.
All patient care is supervised by our medical director. Other practitioners can and will be involved in your care when that care is appropriate, and you will be informed of any such recommendations prior to any changes.
Do you think Root Causes can help me?
Functional medicine providers use a unique approach to uncover the underlying causes of many chronic health care concerns. The human body is intricately complex, and the concerns you are experiencing require careful consideration. The path to healing is best found in a partnership between a patient and a provider working together within a long-term commitment. This process works for the vast majority of patients who commit to the functional medicine approach.
What happens after my initial consultation?
During and immediately following your first visit, a personalized plan will be developed and those plans will be implemented continually throughout the year, based on your unique needs and treatment goals.
This plan will include lab and other testing as indicated, treatment recommendations, and a recommended follow-up schedule, and will include prescription medications, diet and lifestyle modifications, nutritional supplementation, and advanced in-office treatment as well as any specialty referrals.
How long should my visit be?
Significant time and careful consideration by an experienced medical provider is the first step in developing a plan that can result in real improvement. Please note, longer times are required for complex medical problems. This will either be determined based on an understanding of paperwork received or the time required during the initial visit.
Charlotte Widick, NP will be collaborating with Dr. Guillory for most clients, and she will provide all primary care services for those clients that desire functional primary care. New providers will be part of the growing team as deemed necessary, and all clients will be informed in advance of any significant changes. This allows a thoughtful provider to begin to understand the new client and to formulate a plan to proceed, and it maximizes the individualized attention that we can provide during your consultation.
When can I expect charges?
The initial consultation begins when the intake paperwork is submitted. Significant time and attention are devoted to each concern to the appointment. This saves valuable time and minimizes unnecessary expenses.
The Detailed Consultation is designed for patients who have a chronic illness and will need a detailed evaluation of prior medical records, review of ongoing medical treatment and current condition, and thorough discussion to discover underlying causes of the chronic illness. The 110-minute initial consultation fee includes a detailed evaluation of prior health records, medications, supplements, and a follow-up call to answer questions after the initial consultation. A fee of $150 will be required at the time the electronic intake paperwork is submitted for pre-visit review. The remainder of the total initial consultation fee will be collected at the time of the consultation.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, we do!
We accept the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
If you plan to pay with a debit card we require a second method of payment on file as some debit cards have a daily payment limit.
